Kiwi Power Lifts Family

Two Kiwis combined to further the fortunes of a strong WS family in Australia yesterday. Trainer Graeme Rogerson and jockey James McDonald joined forces for an early breakthrough success for the Pins filly Tulla Express at the Gosford meeting.

At just her second raceday appearance, the three-year-old resumed on a winning note off the back of two Randwick trial outings. From an inside barrier, the three-year-old was able to open her account over 1100 metres.

Originally purchased for $160,000 out of WS’s 2011 Premier Sale line-up at Karaka, Tulla Express is out of the Quest For Fame mare Reputedly, who now has a 100 per cent record at stud. All four of her foals to race have been successful and includes Tulla Express’ brothers Stickpin (Gr 3 Standish Handicap, 2nd Gr 1 Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes) and the promising Genuine Spin. There is also an international flavour to the family, which boasts several North American black type winners.

Sulek and Savvysuper give Seth a Trans-Tasman double

Super Seth’s momentum continues, siring a midweek double across New Zealand and Australia. Savvysuper broke through at Tauranga, while $420,000 Ready to Run Sale graduate Sulek showcased his turn of foot at Sandown, confirming the stallion’s growing influence.
