Week Shaping Up Nicely for Scott Richardson

Scott Richardson Bloodstock and WS sired progeny combined for their second winner in the space of three days when Shape Up (No Excuse Needed) flew home for the win over 1200m at Te Aroha this afternoon.

Throw the net wider to include last Saturday, and a hint of things to come was afforded with Richardson’s O’Reilly gelding Burbero, who debuted for third at Rotorua.

Successful with the Murray Baker and Andrew Forsman-trained Diademe (Savabeel) at Te Rapa on Monday, Richardson struck as a breeder/owner courtesy of the Mark Lupton-trained 4YO gelding Shape Up at Te Aroha.

Interestingly Lupton broke in all three of the aforementioned gallopers.

“Scott puts a lot into the game, so it’s great to see him getting these sort of results,” said Lupton from Te Aroha.

By No Excuse Needed and out of the Fasliyev mare Areta, Shape Up has now had the three runs for a win and a second placing.

“He’s a real little professional who has a future ahead of him,” said Lupton.

“He’s got plenty of ability and is a lovely quiet horse. When he gets up to 1400m-1600m in distance, I think he should be one who goes right up in the ratings.”
