Rock ‘n’ Pop strikes again
Wanganui racing identity Harvey Green has savoured success in Australia with a son of Waikato Stud’s Rock ‘n’ Pop.
He enjoyed a racing share in the Gr.1 NZ 2000 Guineas winner and has now bred a winner by the Fastnet Rock stallion.
Limekilns is the first foal of Green’s Pins mare Love Sophia and he made an early breakthrough at Bendigo yesterday.
The three-year-old stepped up to a mile for the first time and duly obliged for rider Jye McNeil.
Trained at Cranbourne by Mick Kent, Limekilns had placed at his only other two appearances.
The gelding was a $75,000 Ready to Run Sale purchase at Karaka in 2016 for agent Phill Cataldo.
Limekilns’ dam is a grand-daughter of the Group Three winner and Group One performer Starcent.
He is the 10th individual winner for Rock ‘n’ Pop from just 38 runners.
