Rock ‘n’ Pop’s son excels in Guineas
Promising three-year-old Go Dixie has earned a black type credit for his Waikato Stud-based stallion Rock ‘n’ Pop.
The gelding successfully bridged the gap to black type company with a bold third in today’s Gr.3 Sunshine Coast Guineas.
Trained by Scott Morrisey at the Gold Coast, Go Dixie had broken his maiden at his lead-up run at Toowoomba.
He was taken to the front in the Guineas by rider Paul Hammersley and kicked on strongly to finish third behind Bostonian.
Go Dixie was initially purchased as a yearling at Karaka for $60,000 and on-sold for $220,000 at the Ready to Run Sale.
He is out of the Cape Cross mare Cape Merlot and a half-brother to the stakes performer Elusive Red.
Go Dixie hails from the family of the Gr.1 Victoria Derby winner Omnicorp and more recently the Gr.2 Travis Stakes winner Abidewithme.

On Saturday night, Jess Greenfield was awarded the loveracing.nz Mary-Lynne Ryan Young Achiever Award at the Property Brokers National Breeding Awards at Karapiro. When asked by Steve Davis what the future looked like for Jess, Greenfield humbly replied: “Just keep working away at Waikato Stud and see where we end up.”

Ocean Park Trans-Tasman Double
With Andrew Forsman’s 3yo Ocean Park filly Pine Leaf breaking her maiden by a widening four and a quarter-lengths in the last at Cambridge on Wednesday, celebrations continued as just ten minutes later it was the Chirs Waller trained Velaris who saluted at Canterbury with fellow Ocean Park runner I Park finishing a gallant third.
