The Rock ‘n’ Pop mare was in trouble when hampered at the start, but she rallied admirably to win over 1400 metres.
The four-year-old was a deserved winner as she had placed in two of her previous three appearances for trainer Lee Somervell.
Veuve Clicquot was a $12,000 Karaka graduate and is a daughter of Megan’s Tough Love.
The dam was a Listed winner in North America and she’s a three-quarter sister to multiple stakes winner Secret Partner.
Headline acts in this pedigree include the Gr.1 Middle Park Stakes winner Formidable and the Gr.1 Dewhurst Stakes winner Adjal.

Gutsy bebut win for Ardrossan’s Macallan
Ardrossan’s son Macallan impressed on debut in Thursday’s opener at Tauranga, overcoming Heavy10 conditions to win the Tierra Maiden 3YO (1200m) by 1.3 lengths. Trained by Wexford Stables and racing for JML Bloodstock, the gelding showed toughness and class to finish strongly before the meeting was abandoned due to weather.
