I Do making her mark

Former top-class race mare I Do is making her mark at stud with both of her foals to race now successful following Solid Contact’s comfortable win at Te Rapa this afternoon.

I Do was bred and raced by Waikato Stud with trainer Allan Sharrock, who prepared her to win 15 races including the 2014 edition of the G1 Tarzino Trophy, then known as the Makfi Challenge Stakes.

Her first foal bred by the Matamata farm and Sharrock sold to trainer Bjorn Baker and Blandford Bloodstock at New Zealand Bloodstock’s National Yearling Sale for $200,000 and as Kiss The Bride the son of Savabeel has won six races.

Her second foal is his brother Solid Contact who was sold to Angel Cruz, whose son Martin trains the 4-year-old, for $150,000 at Karaka.

He was making his fourth appearance at Te Rapa where he raced midfield on the fence before rider Mubs Kareem angled him off the fence before the turn and rounded off strongly in the run home for a dominant win.
