Red Ocean opens account at Kranji

The Shane Baertschiger-trained Red Ocean broke his maiden in Singapore today with a winning run over 1200 metres in his fourth appearance.

The Waikato Stud-bred and sold son of Ocean Park had put the writing on the wall at his previous appearance when he finished fourth for rider Danny Beasley, who retained the ride.

Red Ocean was a $190,000 purchase at the 2019 New Zealand Bloodstock National Yearling Sale and subsequently finished fourth in a trial at Rotorua for David and Emma-Lee Browne before relocating to Singapore.

He is a half-brother to the Pins mare Flamingo, successful in the Listed Wairarapa Thoroughbred Breeders’ S. while another half-brother Predator, a son of Savabeel, won the Listed Singapore Jumbo Jet Trophy.

Their stakes-winning dam is the Danasinga mare Bird is a half-sister to the dam of the G3 South Island Thoroughbred Breeders’ S. winner Out Of The Park and the family of Savabeel’s G1 Rosehill Guineas winner Mo’unga and the G1 Auckland Cup winner Chenille.
