Well-bred Pins filly delivers in style
A rich and deep pedigree was to the fore at Te Rapa where the Waikato Stud-bred and sold Pin Me Up opened her winning account this afternoon.
A minor placegetter in both of her previous starts, the daughter of Pins had no trouble breaking through for the potent combination of trainer Jamie Richards and rider Opie Bosson and in a manner that strongly suggested she can make her mark in far stronger company.
Pin Me Up jumped well to settle in sixth spot and was on the move 500 metres from home and right in contention on straightening. She strode to the front 200 metres out and coasted to the post to win with ease.
She was purchased out of Waikato Stud’s draft at New Zealand Bloodstock’s National Yearling Sale for $270,000 by Andrew Williams Bloodstock and New South Wales entity Konj.
The filly is a daughter of the O’Reilly mare Brampton Loco, who is a half-sister to the G2 Travis S. winner Pimms Time.
Group 1 winners Stratum Star, Rumya, Virage De Fortune and Railings all feature on the pedigree page with the fourth dam the wonder mare and former Australian Horse of the Year Emancipation.
Pin Me Up has been entered in both the G1 New Zealand Oaks and the G1 Levin Classic.

On Saturday night, Jess Greenfield was awarded the loveracing.nz Mary-Lynne Ryan Young Achiever Award at the Property Brokers National Breeding Awards at Karapiro. When asked by Steve Davis what the future looked like for Jess, Greenfield humbly replied: “Just keep working away at Waikato Stud and see where we end up.”

Ocean Park Trans-Tasman Double
With Andrew Forsman’s 3yo Ocean Park filly Pine Leaf breaking her maiden by a widening four and a quarter-lengths in the last at Cambridge on Wednesday, celebrations continued as just ten minutes later it was the Chirs Waller trained Velaris who saluted at Canterbury with fellow Ocean Park runner I Park finishing a gallant third.
