WS enjoys successful Sydney sale

Lot 591 at Inglis Classic Sale

A well-related Savabeel youngster brought the curtain down on a satisfying Inglis Classic Yearling Sale for Waikato Stud on Tuesday afternoon when he exited the Riverside Stables auction ring.

Offered through the Sledmere Stud draft, Lot 591 was knocked down to TFI, of Queensland, for AU$240,000 while a daughter of Ocean Park, Lot 578, had earlier sold for AU$210,000.

Waikato Stud presented six lots over three days of selling, which realised AU$1,350,000 at an average of AU$225,000 and a top price on day one of AU$320,000.

Resident sire Ardrossan also made a pleasing impact during the sale from a small sample selection from his first crop.

A pair of fillies sold by Lime Country Thoroughbreds for Jamieson Park proved popular with Lot 257, selling to Victoria’s Yes Bloodstock for AU$170,000 while Lot 374 was purchased by expatriate New Zealand trainer Paul Duncan for AU$70,000.

Waikato Stud’s Savabeel youngster to sell this afternoon is out of the Pins mare Got It and a well-established family for the Matamata farm, headlined by the four-time Group 1 winner and sire Sacred Falls.

The Ocean Park filly is a half-sister to Andalus, who placed on debut this season in the G2 Wakefield Challenge S. and their dam is the Savabeel mare Genius, who was successful on four occasions. The farm also sold a Sacred Falls colt, Lot 413, with Albury trainer Mitchell Beer and Heywood Bloodstock the successful bidders yesterday at AU$50,000.

The youngster is out of the unraced Thorn Park mare Believe You Me, and the next two dams Lady Alberton and Alberton Star were both black-type winners. The Group 1 winners and young sires Brutal and Wyndspelle are also decorated members of this family.
