Laybuy makes another winning deposit

Savabeel

A well-established Waikato Stud family completed a trans-Tasman double on Wednesday afternoon when the lightly tried Laybuy struck second-up at Sandown.

The Matamata farm-bred 5-year-old son of Savabeel was successful for the third time when he proved too good over 1800 metres in the hands of Daniel Stackhouse.

Trained by Michael Moroney, Laybuy is a son of the G2 Angus Armanasco S. winner Shopaholic and a family that numbers today’s Ruakaka winner Rush within its ranks, that most importantly features the late multiple Group 1 winner and successful Waikato Stud stallion Sacred Falls.

Laybuy had placed when resuming at Geelong at his previous outing and he stalked the pace today before hitting the front 200 metres from home and held a strong gallop to reign supreme.

“It was a good effort second-up for a horse looking for 2000 metres,” stable representative Glen Thompson said. “He had done well and we kept him fresh for this.”

Laybuy was a A$120,000 Inglis Digital July Sale buy for Ballymore Stables and the gelding is a brother to the multiple winner and Group 2 performer Shop Til I Drop and half-brother to Ocean Park’s G1 Australian Oaks placegetter Bargain.
