Pins filly opens black-type account

Reputabelle (Tayler Strong)

Reputabelle bridged the gap to stakes success with aplomb at Wingatui where she bolted away with the Listed NZB Airfreight S.

The Waikato Stud-bred daughter of Pins broke her maiden at Riccarton three runs back before she followed up with a Rating 65 victory, also on her home turn.

The Michael and Matthew Pitman-trained Reputabelle was given a good run near the pace by Tina Comignaghi on Saturday afternoon before they challenged 200 metres from home and then waltzed away to score by 5.8l.

The filly will make her next appearance in the Listed NZB Insurance S. on April 9 at Riccarton and then tackle the Listed New Zealand Bloodstock Warstep S. at the same venue two weeks later.

“This is a filly who’s really put everything together over the last few weeks,” Michael Pitman said.

“We knew that she was always going to be a nice horse, she just needed a little bit of time. “We’re seeing the results now of that patient approach, and it’s very pleasing.

“I’m not sure that it was necessarily an exceptional field that she beat today, but she did it in very good style.”

Reputabelle, a $14,000 Gavelhouse June Online Auction purchase for part-owner Jim Bruford, is a daughter of the unraced O’Reilly mare Really Reputable.

A half-sister to stakes-winning siblings Stickpin and The Bandito, Really Reputable has done a fine job as a broodmare and has left five winners, including the black type performer Florence Jean.
