Actress plays a blinder at Kilmore
American Actress played a starring role on Thursday afternoon on the Kilmore stage with a commanding performance to post her maiden victory.
Trained by Trent Busuttin and Natalie Young, the Waikato Stud-bred and raced filly had placed at her two previous appearances and was sent out a short-priced favourite over 1462 metres.
The lightly tried Savabeel three-year-old jumped well to sit in behind the pace and, once rider Craig Newitt got her clear at the top of the straight, the result was never in doubt and she romped home by 1.75l.
“She’s the sort of filly that wants to get out over a bit further and she lugged in on the home turn, as she did here at her second start, so she definitely wants a bigger track,” Busuttin said.
“It’s always good to win for Waikato Stud, they are good supporters of ours and the industry, they send a lot of horses over here.”
Newitt said he never had any concerns during the running with American Actress.
“My main goal was to get her out of the gates and put her in the race. To her credit, she hit the front a fair way out and was strong through the line.”
American Actress is a sister to the G2 Cal Isuzu S. winner and Karaka Million 3YO Classic runner-up The Real Beel with their dam Ahna.
She is an O’Reilly mare who is a half-sister to the Listed Placid Ark S. winner Ocean Jewel and their Group-performed mother Makisa is a three-quarter sister to the Group winners and sires Commands and Danewin.
She is also a half-sister to the G1 Arrowfield Stud S. winner Shower Of Roses from the legendary Eight Carat family.
