Sacred Falls filly delivers pleasant surprise

Sacred Falls

Trainer Enver Jusufovic was reserved in his pre-race comments on his debutante Miss Jennifer at Pakenham on Thursday evening and was delighted the filly exceeded expectations with a hollow victory.

The Cranbourne-based conditioner would have been satisfied with a top four finish, but the daughter of Sacred Falls was untroubled to make the perfect start to her career with a 3.75l romp over 1200 metres.

“I was a bit surprised, she’s not a flashy trackworker but I gave her a hit-out on Tuesday and it was probably her best work, although you need to see it on race day,” he said.

“I’m probably a glass half-empty sort of person and I am still learning about her.”

Co-bred with Trevor Luke and sold by Waikato Stud, Miss Jennifer was quickly into stride to sit in second spot on the fence and she hit the front early in the run home before coasting clear.

“She jumped quickly and put herself right there. The pressure went on before the corner and she handled that well,” rider Brian Park said.

“She’s a nice horse and still had plenty left at the line.”

Miss Jennifer was sold at Karaka to Cape Schanck Stud for $160,000 and is a half-sister to the multiple Singapore black type winner Kiwi Karma and the Listed Winter Challenge H. winner Seaway.

Their dam is the One Cool Cat mare Miss Purrfection, who was successful on four occasions, and she is a half-sister to the G2 Sir Byrne Hart S. winner and G1 Telegraph H. runner-up Cheiron.
