Well-bred Savabeel mare strikes again
A Group 1 pedigree was to the fore on Wednesday afternoon at Hawera where Ideal continued the grand start she has made to her career.
She was into stride quickly to sit in fourth spot and was on the move 600 metres from home and rounded off strongly in the closing stages for a comfortable victory over 1600 metres.
Rider Lisa Allpress sported the Waikato Stud colours aboard the patiently handled 4-year-old, who now has two wins and a brace of placings from her four appearances.
The Matamata farm co-bred Ideal with part-owner and trainer Allan Sharrock and the daughter of Savabeel is out of the G1 Makfi Challenge S. winner I Do.
I Do is a half-sister by No Excuse Needed to the Listed Queensland Cup winner Iggi Pop and the family of the G1 Queensland Derby winner Court Ruler.
She has also produced an unraced Tivaci 3-year-old named Do I, a juvenile Savabeel filly and last year foaled a filly by Super Seth before she returned to the Dundeel stallion.

Super Seth’s momentum continues, siring a midweek double across New Zealand and Australia. Savvysuper broke through at Tauranga, while $420,000 Ready to Run Sale graduate Sulek showcased his turn of foot at Sandown, confirming the stallion’s growing influence.
