Savabeel 3YO makes immediate impact

Savabeel

Tilianam showed an instant return on her recent purchase price when she made a winning debut in Queensland on Saturday afternoon.

The Waikato Stud-bred and sold daughter of Savabeel was making her first appearance from Tony Gollan’s yard and proved too slick for her age group rivals over 1200 metres at Eagle Farm.

She was caught wide in fifth spot, but was going well at the top of the straight and extended impressively under rider Hugh Bowman to score with authority.

Tilianam had won twice, including success in the Listed Lonhro Plate, when prepared by Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott before she was offered at the Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale and was knocked down to Newgate’s Henry Field for A$625,000.

“We haven’t had her long and came to us after Henry bought her. It’s a privilege to have her here and this race was right in the sweet spot for her,” Golan said.

“She is a great addition to the stable and she’s very tough, a typical Savabeel.”

Tilianam was originally bought by Waterhouse and Bott at Karaka for $270,000 and is out of the stakes-placed Pins mare Spending.

She is a sister to Group 2 winner Shopaholic and a half-sister to Splurge, also a Group 2 winner. Their dam is G3 Thoroughbred Club S. winner and G1 Ascot Vale S. runner-up Splashing Out, a three-quarter sister to the late multiple Group 1 winner and successful sire Sacred Falls.

Spending has a yearling sister to Tilianam and produced an Ocean Park filly in 2021 before visiting
Super Seth.
