Bold showing from Ocean Park’s son
Bold Contender added another victory to his CV when he scored with authority over 2150 metres at Coffs Harbour on Sunday afternoon.
Trained by Andrew Parramore, the genuine son of Ocean Park was allowed plenty of time to find his feet by rider Ben Looker.
They settled at the tail of the field before making a move 700 metres from home and the 5-year-old produced a stirring finish down the outside of the track to win going away by 2.2l.
He now has three victories to his credit along with 12 placings from 22 appearances.
Waikato Stud bred and a $12,000 New Zealand Bloodstock Ready to Run Sale purchase, Bold Contender is out of the stakes performed Danasinga mare Striptease, a half-sister to the black type winners Seize The Moment and Savour The Moment.
From the family of Group 1 winners Anacheeva, Headturner and O’Marilyn, Striptease delivered a colt by Tivaci last season.
WS-breds shine at the Racing Victoria Off The Track Carnival
Last weekend saw many retired racehorses and their careers compete in various disciplines, and one star who shone brightly was Eden Pearson’s 10-year-old ott horse, Tango. Once racing as Does It (Pins ex Just Be Cos), Tango raced 45 times, winning on five occasions and accumulating prizemoney of $275,550 before retiring in June 2024.
