Fashion Shoot cuts pretty picture
Fashion Shoot is rarely far from the action and she capped off a strong run of placed form with victory in the opening event at Te Rapa.
The Mark Walker-prepared mare had finished in the money on four consecutive occasions before a major reward came her way over 1200 metres on Sunday afternoon.
The daughter of Savabeel had been narrowly beaten into second when resuming at Taupo last month and under a typically professional ride from Opie Bosson was able to comfortably go one better.
Fashion Shoot settled in fourth last spot off the fence before she improved around runners 600 metres from home and she held a sustained finish to the post for her third win.
“It was a nice win and she was building into that,” Walker said. “It was a lovely ride by Opie, he’s riding in a rich vein of form.
“She’s a Savabeel mare that is just coming of age now and we’ll be looking to get her rating higher in search of black type.”
Fashion Shoot was bred by Waikato Stud with Howard and Pam Forbes and was a $320,000 Karaka purchase for Te Akau’s David Ellis.
She is out of the O’Reilly mare High Fashion whose four career victories featured two at Group 3 level in the Desert Gold S. and Lowland S.
High Fashion’s first live foal Savvy Valentino won seven races and was stakes placed and the mare has a juvenile filly by Savabeel and is in foal to Super Seth.
