Breeding partnership strikes again

A breeding venture between Waikato Stud and Victoria’s Rosemont Stud has another win on the board.

The two farms bred four foals from the late Encosta De Lago mare Halloween with the first two by Sacred Falls being the Group 3 winners All Saints’ Eve and All Hallows Eve.

The third is the Savabeel gelding Lampkin Lane, who broke his maiden at Grafton over 1700 metres on Monday afternoon.

Halloween’s last foal is Allhallowtide, an unraced brother to Lampkin Lane, while previous visits to Savabeel produced the G1 New Zealand 1000 Guineas winner Hasahalo and his brother Hasabro, who has the G3 White Robe Lodge Handicap featured among his eight wins.

Lampkin Lane was a $230,000 Karaka graduate who began his career in Victoria before relocating to New South Wales where he is prepared at Grafton by Shane Everson and had placed at his two prior appearances.

“I was pretty confident with him today, he’d been going well,” he said.

“He might not have too many more runs and he will be even better next preparation.”

Lampkin Lane settled well back in the field before picking up ground for rider Luke Rolls and held a
strong gallop in the straight to score by 1l.
