Savabeel’s stallion son makes dream start

Savabeel

Savabeel’s son Embellish was a high-class performer during his racing days and has wasted no time in making an impact in the second phase of his career.

Embellish was a decorated graduate of Waikato Stud who was victorious in the G1 New Zealand 2000 Guineas and finished runner-up in the Karaka Million 3YO Classic before his retirement to Cambridge Stud.

He was represented by his first runners in Saturday’s juvenile event at Ruakaka and Luberon produced a dashing display to romp home by 4l.

“She is really just what you want in a two-year-old as she is strong, with a great constitution and just does everything right.” Trainer Lance Noble said.

“She was actually quite green at her first trial but the beauty of her is that she just learns so quickly
without forcing her to do anything.

“She is well put together although there is still plenty of growing left to do, so it is an exciting future
ahead of her.”

Her sire Embellish was purchased out of Waikato Stud’s draft at New Zealand Bloodstock’s National Yearling Sale for $775,000 by Te Akau’s David Ellis and is a son of the unraced Bling.

The late O’Reilly mare proved herself to be an outstanding broodmare as the four winners she produced also included Embellish’s sister Diademe, who claimed an edition of the G1 New Zealand Thoroughbred Breeders’ S.

Their sire Savabeel, who turned 21 on Friday, has enjoyed a remarkable career with 27 individual
Group 1 winners so far to his credit.
