Extra trip perfect for Rosabeel

A sharp second-up rise in distance was the key to Rosabeel delivering the first winning strike of her career.
The daughter of Savabeel had finished fifth over 1600 metres when resuming from a seven-month break last month and she relished today’s middle-distance test at Pakenham.
“The little unknown was the synthetic track, but she loved the 2100 metres and put it all together,” said Natalie Young, who prepares the four-year-old with Trent Busuttin.
Rosabeel settled three back on the rail and once rider Michael Poy was able to get her into the clear she lengthened stride to score by 1.25l.
“She’s a real momentum horse and was held for a spot or two on the corner so hopefully she can go on with it now,” Young said.
Rosabeel was bought out of co-breeder Waikato Stud’s draft at Karaka for $220,000 with Clarke Bloodstock and Busuttin Racing signing the ticket.
She is a daughter of the Montjeu mare Gracie Rose, a half-sister to the G1 Makfi Challenge S. winner I Do, who has a 100 percent record at stud with all four of her foals to race now successful.
Gracie Rose has an unraced two-year-old Ocean Park colt and made a repeat visit to Ardrossan this season after producing a daughter to the Redoute’s Choice stallion in 2021.
