Ocean Park mare flies high

Ocean Park

Ocean Flyer has been knocking on the door this preparation and she burst through over 1800 metres in style at Port Macquarie on Saturday afternoon to open her account.

The consistent daughter of Ocean Park produced a stirring late burst down the outside to win in the hands of apprentice Bailey Wheeler at her ninth appearance, having placed in three of her previous four appearances.

The Paul Shailer-trained four-year-old was bred by Waikato Stud and Mark Chittick’s sister Celia Crawshaw and was a $70,000 New Zealand Bloodstock Yearling Sale graduate.

Ocean Flyer is a half-sister to the Listed Alexandra S. winner and G1 Australian Guineas runner-up You’re So Good, whose brother Indrabeel was also a multiple winner and black-type placegetter.

Their dam is the Flying Spur mare Lightning Spur, who is a half-sister to the two-time Group 1 winner
Melito and the family of the multiple Group 3 winner and sire Pariah.
