Hot performance from well-bred Get Lit

Valuable filly Get Lit showed she had inherited a good measure of the family ability when she added winning momentum to her fledging career with a tidy victory over 1400 metres at Avondale on Wednesday afternoon.

The Waikato Stud-bred and raced daughter of Savabeel was sent out favourite on debut on the synthetic track at Cambridge last month and was beaten into fifth after beginning awkwardly and over-racing.

The Tony Pike-trained three-year-old was again tardily out of the barrier today before settling three back on the fence under jockey Michael McNab.

When a gap presented itself 200 metres from home, Get Lit answered positively to drive between runners to post her maiden success.

Get Lit is a sister to the two-time Group 1 winner Mo’unga, who is trained by Annabel Neasham and she went to $1 million at Karaka earlier this year to sign for another sibling out of the Matamata farm’s draft.

Their dam is O’Reilly’s Group-performed daughter Chandelier, who is a sister to the G2 Auckland Thoroughbred Breeders’ S. winner and G1 New Zealand Thoroughbred Breeders’ S. runner-up Irlanda.

Chandelier produced a colt by Super Seth last season before she again paid a return visit to Savabeel.
