Ocean Park’s son impresses at Bendigo
A patient approach with Tasman Park was rewarded on Wednesday afternoon when the son of Ocean Park produced a stylish debut performance at Bendigo.
The Michael Moroney-trained four-year-old sat close to the pace over 1100 metres and, when rider Jamie Mott asked him for an effort, he quickly took control and won going away by 2.25l.
“That was super impressive and the stable was full of confidence, all the boxes have been ticked,” Mott said.
“He travelled well behind what was quite a good speed and I peeled out and he showed a good turn of foot and did it quite easily.”
Tasman Park was sold by breeder Waikato Stud via the Gavelhouse platform for $8450 and was later passed in at New Zealand Bloodstock’s Ready to Run Sale.
He was subsequently unbeaten in two trial appearances from the Otaki stable of Johno Benner and Hollie Wynyard before his purchase by clients of Moroney’s stable.
Tasman Park is a son of the Sandtrap mare Tricilo, a half-sister to the G1 Queensland Oaks winner Miss Keepsake.
