Fast start to new preparation

Ocean Park

The lightly raced Ocean’s Jen opened her five-year-old campaign in the best possible fashion with a sharp display over 1200 metres at Moonee Valley on Friday evening.

The Ciaron Maher and David Eustace-trained daughter of Ocean Park was making her first appearance since the autumn and posted the fourth victory of her 11-start career.

“She’d had a couple of jump-outs and wasn’t that great, but we elected to come here rather than another jump-out and that proved the right decision.” stable representative Leigh Allan said.

Ocean’s Jen jumped from the outside gate and rider Zac Spain let her roll to the front at the top of the straight and held a strong gallop under 61kg to score by a half-dead.

Owned by Cape Schanck Racing, she was offered by breeder Waikato Stud at New Zealand Bloodstock’s National Weanling Sale and was knocked down for $32,000.

She is a daughter of the unraced O’Reilly mare Really Reputabelle, who has left five winners including dual Listed winner Reputabelle and the Group performer Florence Jean.
