Mare poses for winning photo

Ocean Park

Ocean Park mare Poser opened a new preparation in emphatic fashion at Tauranga on Saturday afternoon.

The well-travelled five-year-old was making her first appearance from owner Kurtis Pertab’s Matamata stable and two lead-up trials had her ready to strike over 1600 metres in the hands of Tegan Newman.

Poser began her career with Graham Richardson and Rogan Norvall and placed for them before a stint at Riccarton with Andrew Carston and then joined Pertab’s operation.

She jumped well to settle in the trail and, after angling off the fence before the turn, rounded off strongly to break her maiden by 2.5l.

Bred by Mary Chittick, Poser is the first winner for the Pins mare Wannabe who was successful on three occasions and is out of a half-sister to the G3 Cuddle S. winner Rhysess.

Wannabe produced a filly last season by Ardrossan before returning to the Group-winning son of
Redoute’s Choice.
