Savabeel’s son powers home
Good things come to those who wait as the connections of the well-related Powerbeel found to their delight on Saturday afternoon at Kembla Grange.
Trained by Robert and Luke Price, the four-year-old son of Savabeel was given a quiet early ride by
Brock Ryan to settle toward the back of the field.
They picked up ground near the turn and when asked for a serious effort, the gelding lengthened
stride to draw clear and score a dominant win over 1500 metres.
Bred by Waikato Stud, Powerbeel failed to meet his reserve at Karaka before he was offered at the
Inglis Ready to Race Sale by Ohukia Lodge and was purchased by his trainers for A$105,000.
He is a brother to the G2 Matriarch S. winner Atishu and the stakes performer Mazzolino with their
dam the No Excuse Needed mare Posy.
A sister to the triple Group 1 winner Daffodil, Posy has an unraced Savabeel two-year-old filly by
Savabeel and has again been served by the multiple champion stallion.
