Tasman Park remains undefeated

Ocean Park

Tasman Park kept his perfect record intact with another strong performance on the Lakeside course at Sandown on Wednesday afternoon.

The son of Ocean Park had blitzed his rivals on debut at Bendigo and he was sent out a warm favourite over 1300 metres off the back of that performance.

His supporters had few concerns as the Michael Moroney-trained four-year-old settled in fourth spot off the fence under Jamie Mott and let down well over the closing 200 metres to win by three-quarters of a length.

“He came through his first run really well and is going the right way,” Moroney said.

“He’s bred to get more of a trip as he’s out of a good staying family.”

Tasman Park was sold by breeder Waikato Stud via the Gavelhouse platform for $8450 to Jen Campin and was later passed in at New Zealand Bloodstock’s Ready to Run Sale.

He subsequently won two trials from the Otaki stable of Johno Benner and Hollie Wynyard before his purchase by clients of Moroney’s stable.

“We’ve given him a lot of time and he’s been worth the wait,” Moroney said.

Tasman Park is a son of the Sandtrap mare Tricilo, a half-sister to the G1 Queensland Oaks winner Miss Keepsake.
