Ocean Park 4YO worth the wait
Jason Bridgman’s patience was rewarded at Wodonga on Friday with Marine Parade delivering a first victory in style.
The former Te Akau trainer, who is now based at Pakenham, has been prepared to take the Waikato Stud graduate along slowly and he broke his maiden over 1400 metres at his fifth appearance.
“He’s always showed good ability and is starting to put it all together now so hopefully he’s in for a good prep,” Bridgman said.
“He’s a four-year-old now and the Ocean Parks tend to get better with time.”
Marine Parade settled back in the field before rider Daniel Stackhouse urged him forward with 600 metres to run. They swung widest on the turn and finished far too well to win with authority by 1.75l.
From a successful Waikato Stud family, Marine Parade was originally purchased for $6000 off the Gavelhouse platform before Bridgman bought him for A$40,000 at the Inglis Melbourne Premier Yearling Sale.
He is a son of the unraced Pins mare On Parade, who had an Ocean Park filly last season, and she is from the immediate family of the multiple Group 1-winning pair of Glamour Puss and Vision And Power.
