Pins mare goes back-to-back

Pins

Lottacheex took a while to quit the maiden grade, but as so often happens she has wasted no time in adding a further success to her record.

The Pins four-year-old broke through at her 11th start over 1700 metres at Warrnambool at the end of last month and she returned there on Sunday to score over the same trip for trainer Danny O’Brien.

“Well done to Waikato Stud, they have been patient with her and every run she has improved and furnished into a beautiful mare,” stable representative Beau Dunn said.

Lottacheex jumped quickly to take up a handy spot and from third on the home turn she finished determinedly under jockey Liam Riordan.

“Not many horses go from a maiden win to a 0-64 handicap so she’s done a very good job,” he said.

Lottacheex is the first foal of the Savabeel mare Cheex, who is a half-sister to the stakes winner Maritimo and they are out of a sister to the dual Group 3 winner Dating.

Also the dam of the winner Lippy, Cheex has an unraced two-year-old daughter of the Ardrossan filly Li Li and a yearling filly by Tivaci.
