Elite-level breeding prospect
High end breeders have been put on alert with the announcement that top-class Waikato Stud graduate Icebath will be offered at the Inglis Chairman’s Sale in May.
The daughter of the late Sacred Falls has enjoyed a stellar career with a highlight victory in the G1 Empire Rose S. and also placed five times at the elite level in the Doncaster Mile (twice), George Main Stakes, Queen of the Turf and Cantala Stakes.
The winner of more than A$5.2 million, Icebath is out of the Savabeel mare Fabulist who is also the dam of the G3 Sha Tin Vase winner and G1 Hong Kong Sprint placegetter Courier Wonder and Listed winner Nowyousee.
“She is such a competitor and has a rare determination and closing speed which few horses possess,’’ managing owner David McGrath said.
“Since she was a two-year-old right through to 2023, Icebath has raced at the highest level and shown so much heart in her races. She’s one of the most loved and consistent Group 1 horses in Australia.
“Icebath’s longevity is down to the way (trainer) Brad Widdup and his team have cared for the
mare.”

There are under ten left to foal and we’re looking forward to the end of that after kicking off in August.
The breeding shed is starting to get a bit patchy now as we come towards the end of the breeding season down here. That has gone extremely well throughout the whole season and we’re well and truly past the 600 individual mares now, and the stallions have gone extremely well as have the team there.
