Savabeel

Black type success is the top priority for the talented Savabeel mare Fashion Shoot.

The five-year-old is a genuine type and capped off a run of three minor placings with a barnstorming run from off the pace under 58kg to comfortably put away her Rating 75 rivals at Te Rapa on Saturday.

“It was a good effort to come from so far back, she’s one of those horses that doesn’t have a lot of gate speed and finishes off,” trainer Mark Walker said.

“Hopefully, we can get a stakes with her now.”

Bred by Waikato Stud with Howard and Pam Forbes, Fashion Shoot had plenty of work to do into the straight, but when rider Opie Bosson hooked her wide 350 metres from home she hit top gear to win going away and the fourth victory of her career.

“We were a fair way off them, but she travelled beautifully and pinned her ears back and got them,” Bosson said.

Fashion Shoot was a $320,000 Karaka purchase for Te Akau’s David Ellis and with Group 3 placings in the Concorde H. and Canterbury Breeders’ S. a black-type victory would further boost her future broodmare value.

She is a daughter of the O’Reilly mare High Fashion, who was a dual Group 3 winner and is out of a half-sister to the G2 Waikato Cup winner and G1 Auckland Cup placegetter Ultimate Aim.

High Fashion has an unraced juvenile sister to Fashion Shoot and is in foal to Super Seth.
