Exciting colt unveiled at Hawkesbury

Savabeel

Jedibeel made the perfect start to his career on Tuesday afternoon when the colt produced a stirring performance at Hawkesbury.

Trained on the course by Brad Widdup, the son of Savabeel sat three wide from an outside gate over 1100 metres and sauntered clear in the straight under rider Brett Prebble to win by a widening 2.8l.

The Waikato Stud-bred and sold Jedibeel boasts a well-performed and current family that numbers the Matamata farm’s Golden Eagle winner and multiple-Group 1 placegetter I wish I Win.

The three-year-old is out of the unraced O’Reilly mare Starry, who has left five winners including the Group-performed Starrybeel.

In foal to Noverre, Starry is a half-sister to the Listed Widden S. winner Delta Girl and a pedigree page that also features the G1 Livamol Classic winner Savy Yong Blonk.

Jedibeel was originally sold at New Zealand Bloodstock’s National Weanling Sale for $35,000 and was later purchased by Widdup for A$190,000 at Inglis’ Classic Yearling Sale.
