The Mighty Spar furthered his record on Wednesday afternoon with a stout staying performance to claim top honours in the South Waikato Cup at Matamata.
The well-related son of Savabeel was tardily away in the 2000 metre contest and the Mark Walker- trained representative lobbed along at the back of the small field under Hakim Kamaruddin.

Bred by Waikato Stud, he is a brother to the Listed Canberra Guineas winner Avebury and the G1 Queensland Derby runner-up Paternal.
Their dam is the O’Reilly mare O’Dianne, who was a talented performer and won as a two-year-old and finished fourth in an edition of the Restricted Listed Karaka Million.
From the family of the multiple Group 1 winner and successful sire Starcraft, O’Dianne’s Super Seth colt was purchased by champion trainer Chris Waller and agent Guy Mulcaster at this year’s Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale for A$450,000.
