Sako added to the fast start Ardrossan has made to his stallion career when he claimed top honours in the opening event over 1200 metres at Trentham on Saturday afternoon.
The Stephen Marsh-prepared two-year-old settled in the trail and angled into the clear 400 metres from home.
The Jomara Bloodstock-bred and raced gelding then unwound strongly for rider Wiremu Pinn to score at his third appearance.
Sako, who had finished runner-up on debut, is highly regarded by connections and holds a nomination for the G1 Manawatu Sires’ Produce S.
He is the second winner from just five representatives for Ardrossan, whose son and Sako’s stablemate Codigo won the Listed Wellesley S. on the course in January to remain unbeaten after two starts.
