The John O’Shea-trained Allhallowtide is the latest success story for breeder-owners Waikato Stud and Rosemont Stud.
The trans-Tasman partnership previously enjoyed Group 3 victories with the three-year-old’s former stablemates and half-sisters All Saints’ Eve and All Hallows’ Eve, daughters of Sacred Falls.
They are out of Halloween, also the dam of the G1 NZ 1000 Guineas winner Hasahalo, and the Encosta De Lago mare’s last live foal Allhallowtide opened his account at Kembla Grange on Tuesday afternoon.
The Savabeel gelding was fourth on debut and then finished runner-up on a return visit to Newcastle and went one better, albeit narrowly, over 1600 metres on Tuesday.
“I thought it was going to be an easy job, but the second horse battled back and made us work a bit harder,” successful jockey Tom Marquand said.
Allhallowtide was quickly into stride to take up a handy spot and, after challenging 350 metres from home, stuck to his task determinedly for his maiden success.
