Tivaci 3YO strikes again
Tivaci three-year-old Hammoon Thunder doubled his winning tally with a dominant performance to score over 1600 metres at Mudgee.
The Rodney Northam-trained three-year-old had broken his maiden at Tamworth before Christmas and was then put aside for a break.
He resumed with a solid run for sixth at Scone over 1400 metres and appreciated the step up in trip on Sunday afternoon.
“It was a terrific effort and we’ve always had a bit of opinion of him,” stable representative Rachel Northam said.
“He’s just taken a little while to put it all together and it was a great ride as well.
Jockey Grant Buckley had Hammoon Thunder travelling well near the pace before peeling wide to improve and the gelding lengthened stride impressively in the straight to forge clear.
A A$40,000 Inglis Classic Yearling Sale buy for Northam, Hammoon Thunder is a son of Baby Shacks and the O’Reilly mare is a sister to the Group 2-winning siblings Vigor and Joey Massino and a half-sister to the inaugural Karaka Million winner Vincent Mangano.
Baby Shacks has an unraced two-year-old sister to Hammoon Thunder and her Super Seth colt sold to Danny O’Brien at Karaka earlier this year for $70,000.
The mare produced a filly by Per Incanto last season before she visited Ardrossan.
