Stud family continues to shine
A family that has served Waikato Stud so well was to the fore in Singapore on Saturday evening.
Ocean Park’s son Smoke And Mirrors posted his third victory at Kranji when he was successful in the opening event on the card over 1200 metres.
He was initially passed in at New Zealand Bloodstock’s National Yearling Sale before he was sold on behalf of the Matamata farm by Ohukia Lodge for $30,000 to trainer Lee Freedman for $30,000 at the Ready to Run Sale.
Smoke And Mirrors broke his maiden for Freedman before he returned to Australia and the gelding was transferred to Jason Ong’s stable and has now added a further two victories.
He is a son of the O’Reilly mare Starry, who has produced five winners including the multiple Group placegetter Starrybeel.
In foal to Noverre, Starry is from the family of this season’s G1 TJ Smith S. winner I Wish I Win with the G1 Livamol Classic winner Savy Yong Blonk, the G2 Autumn Classic winner Autumn Ace featuring on the pedigree page as well as Group 3 winners Strike The Stars and Another Dollar.
