Bright staying future for Savabeel’s son
Well-related three-year-old Savorski showed his staying potential at Moe on Monday afternoon.
The son of Savabeel stepped up to 2050 metres for the first time and struck immediately with his breakthrough success at his third appearance.
The Ciaron Maher and David Eustace-trained Waikato Stud graduate settled in the trail before he got into the clear soon after straightening and rounded off strongly in the run home for rider Ben Allen.
Savorski had been unplaced on debut, but showed sharp improvement next time out at Werribee to finish runner-up over 1629 metres.
“With the blinkers off and up to 2000 metres we thought he would improve again,” stable representative Wayne Bolton said.
“He was in a really good position, I was slightly worried on the turn when he was in a pocket but he got out and was good to the line.”
Raced by the Matamata farm with John Stubbs, Savorski is a brother to the G2 Matriarch S. winner Savapinski with their dam the unraced Pins mare Swarosvki.
A half-sister to the Listed Rotorua S. winner Glitzy, Swarovski has a yearling filly by Ocean Park and produced a colt last season by Ardrossan and is back in foal to the Redoute’s Choice stallion.
