Tivaci filly provides early fireworks
Tivaci’s well-performed daughter Wolverine was a highly sought after filly when bidding got underway at the Magic Millions Gold Coast Broodmare Sale.
The Waikato Stud graduate was the sixth lot through the ring on Day 1 and, offered as a racing and breeding proposition by Yarraman Park Stud, was purchased by Te Akau chief David Ellis for A$850,000.
Wolverine was initially bought out of the Matamata nursery’s draft at Karaka by trainer Roydon Bergerson and respected bloodstock identity Chris Rutten for $50,000.
Last season, she won three of her five starts including the Eclipse S. and Wakefield Challenge S. at Group 2 level and was runner-up in the G1 Manawatu Sires’ Produce S. and the Listed Karaka Million.
Australian Bloodstock bought into the filly during her juvenile campaign and she was relocated to Kris Lees’ stable for her three-year-old preparation.
She added a further five black type placings to her record and last raced when fourth in the Listed Gold Coast Bracelet earlier this month.
Wolverine is the second foal out of the O’Reilly mare Knew It who is from the immediate family of Waikato Stud’s multiple Group 1 winner and successful sire Ocean Park.
Knew It has an unraced two-year-old colt by Iffraaj and returned to Tivaci after foaling a brother to Wolverine last season.
