Ideal return from Savabeel’s daughter
Ideal showed she is in for a lucrative campaign with a runaway victory over 1500 metres on Saturday afternoon at Te Rapa.
The daughter of Savabeel was making her first appearance for six months, but was produced in tip-top condition and had no trouble putting away her Rating 75 opposition for the third win of her six-start career.
Ideal settled in the body of the field and rider Craig Grylls elected to make ground nearest the fence across the top and they sailed clear in the closing 300 metres to score by 2.8l.
The five-year-old sports the familiar colours of Waikato Stud, who race the mare with their co-breeder and trainer Allan Sharrock.
The result will be warmly greeted from afar by Sharrock, who is currently holidaying in the United States and Hawaii.
It’s no surprise Ideal is blessed with abundant ability as she is a daughter of the G1 Makfi Challenge S. winner I Do, who also won a brace of Group 3 events.
She is a half-sister by No Excuse Needed to the Listed Queensland Cup winner Iggi Pop and the family of the G1 Queensland Derby winner Court Ruler.
I Do has produced a quartet of winners and has a yearling filly by Super Seth before producing a colt by the Group 1-winning son of Dundeel last season and is in foal to Noverre.
