Top honour for quality mare Atishu

The high-class deeds of Savabeel’s daughter Atishu were acknowledged at this week’s New South Wales Racehorse Owners’ Association Racing Night of Champions.
The Waikato Stud-bred and sold mare was named as joint winner in the Queen of the Autumn category.
During the last autumn spring carnival in Sydney, she was runner-up when resuming in the G2 Emancipation S. at Rosehill before going one better to claim the G1 Queen of the Turf at Randwick.
The now six-year-old is out of Posy, a sister to multiple Group 1 winner Daffodil, and was purchased at Karaka for $260,000 by Go Racing.
“Atishu is a horse that has shown us any amount of ability both in New Zealand and Australia,” Matt Allnutt said.
“Stephen Marsh did a fantastic job with her in New Zealand and then we made the decision to send her to Chris Waller in Australia.
“She hasn’t always been the most straight forward of horses, she’s had her issues in the barriers at times however Chris and her team did a fantastic job with her to overcome the problems.”
Atishu is likely to trial next week with a view to resuming in either the G2 Sheraco S. on September 9 or the G2 Let’s Elope S. at Flemington a week later.
Her dam Posy, who has also produced the Waikato Stud-raced G3 Desert Gold S. winner Mazzolino and a return visit to Savabeel resulted in another filly, is due to foal this season to Noverre.
