Jedibeel adds to burgeoning record
Well-related four-year-old Jedibeel continued his march through the grades at Warwick Farm where he produced a sharp display to score over 1100 metres.
The son of Savabeel was quickly into stride to keep the leaders within his sights and had enough in reserve after forging clear 300 metres from home to claim the thick end of the stake.
“It was a great win and it always looked like it was going to map well for him,” trainer Brad Widdup said.
A Waikato Stud graduate, Jedibeel has now posted three wins and four placings from his seven outings and impressed rider Tyler Schiller.
“He’s done a terrific job and he’s a great specimen. He’s showing a bit of everything, he’s a terrific horse,” he said.
From the family of crack sprinter I Wish I Win, Jedibeel is a son of the unraced O’Reilly mare Starry, who has left five winners including the Group-performed Starrybeel.
In foal to Noverre, Starry is a half-sister to the Listed Widden S. winner Delta Girl and a well-performed family that also features the G1 Livamol Classic winner Savy Yong Blonk.
Jedibeel was originally sold at New Zealand Bloodstock’s National Weanling Sale for $35,000 and was later purchased by Widdup for A$190,000 at the Inglis Classic Yearling Sale.
