Savabeel’s son a deserved victor

Good things come to those who wait as the connections of Raetihi found to their joy at Pakenham
on Saturday afternoon.

Their son of Savabeel had placed in seven of his previous 12 appearances, including three runner-up finishes, before he broke through in fine style over 1400 metres.

The Emma-Lee and David Browne-trained four-year-old was taken straight to the front by rider Jake Noonan and travelled strongly at the head of affairs.

Raetihi was clear with 350 metres to run and he careered away with a minimum of urging to score by a widening seven lengths.

Bred by Waikato Stud, he was purchased by Sparta Racing for $155,000 at New Zealand Bloodstock’s Ready to Run Sale where he was sold through Ohukia Lodge’s draft.

He is from one of the Matamata nursery’s most prolific families with his dam Lego, a daughter of the two-time Group 1 winner Legs with Tiptronic, Guyno and Sixty Seconds also elite level winners on the pedigree page.

Lego has an unraced juvenile son of Super Seth, a $50,000 Karaka graduate, named Super Legacy and also has a Savabeel yearling.
