Sir Albert in a class of his own

Savabeel

Rising star Sir Albert has been in grand touch through the spring and struck another impressive winning blow on his home track this afternoon.

Prepared at Riccarton by Terri Rae, the son of Savabeel stepped up to 2000 metres for the first time and demolished his Rating 75 rivals under rider Sam Weatherley.

Sir Albert lobbed along in the fifth spot away from the fence before improving wide near the turn.

The four-year-old strode to the front 300 metres from home and made light of his 59kg to thump his opposition by 2.3l.

“I thought he was my best ride of the day, and he’s got a wicked turn of foot,” Weatherley said.

The gelding has now put together three wins and two placings from five appearances this preparation.

Sir Albert is out of the unraced O’Reilly mare Diana Dors, whose first two foals, Colville House and Sly Corner, have been multiple winners in Australia.

The dam is a sister to the G2 Makybe Diva S. winner, Vigor, and the G2 Avondale Guineas winner, Joey Massino, and a half-sister to the inaugural Karaka Million winner, Vincent Mangano.

Diana Dors has a juvenile filly by Tivaci and produced a daughter of Ardrossan last season.
