Poison Chalice strikes again
Lightly raced four-year-old Poison Chalice added to his tidy record when he was successful at Morphettville on Saturday afternoon.
Sent inter-state by his Victorian trainer Paul Preusker, the son of Savabeel won for the fourth time in eight appearances when he produced a determined display to score over 1800 metres in the hands of Callan Murray.
Poison Chalice settled midfield off the fence before he was on the move across the top and he finished resolutely in the closing 250 metres.
Bred and sold by Waikato Stud, he is raced by the Ultra Horse Syndicate after he was purchased for A$350,000 at the 2021 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale.
A half-brother to multiple winners Pins Prince and Neighbourhood, he is a son of the O’Reilly mare Urban who is a half-sister to the G3 South Island Thoroughbred Breeders’ S. winner Residential.
Since Poison Chalice, Urban has produced three fillies by Savabeel and is again in foal again to the multiple Champion Sire.
Savabeel scores again! Poison Chalice (ex Ubran) finds another gear to bring home his fourth win @SAJockeyClub for Paul Preusker under @callan_murray. Bred on-farm, he is a $350k @mmsnippets Gold Coast Yearling Sale graduate. Congrats to all connections 🙌 pic.twitter.com/6AVAJGBH1Q
