Rich 3YO options beckon Savabeel’s son

Savabeel

Interlinked has strong Classic form in his pedigree, and connections will now be eyeing up age group features with their unbeaten son of Savabeel.

The three-year-old was a debut winner at Kilmore and coped admirably with a rise in class at Caulfield this evening to defeat older opposition over 1600 metres.

Trained by Trent Busuttin and Natalie Young for OTI Racing and partners, the Waikato Stud-bred Interlinked settled in behind the leaders and finished stoutly to get in the deciding stride on the post.

“He was a Ready to Run horse out of New Zealand, so it might be good to take him back and get some of their money; there are a lot of options for this horse,” OTI’s Terry Henderson said in reference to a possible G1 New Zealand Derby venture.

Interlinked has been ridden in both of his victories by Thomas Stockdale, who said the gelding was making excellent progress.

“He certainly took great improvement out of his first win. He jumped cleanly today to get a good position and let down really well, and he will come on again,” he said.

Interlinked was offered on behalf of the Matamata farm by Ohukia Lodge at New Zealand Bloodstock’s Ready to Run Sale and was purchased by Busuttin Racing for $100,000.

He is a grandson of the former top-class performer Daffodil, whose three Group 1 wins included the Australian Oaks, and is also from the family of the elite level winners Atishu and Aegon.

Farm yarns: Mark Chittick
