Raetihi runs them ragged again
Freegoer Raetihi continued his golden run of form when he produced a commanding front-running performance over 1600 metres at Moonee Valley on Saturday afternoon to add to his record.
The son of Savabeel crossed the field from a wide gate to make the pace for jockey Billy Egan and, after forging clear on the turn, he had enough in reserve to score by a neck for his second win on the bounce on the course.
“He’s turned the corner and is loving life at the moment and Billy gave him a lovely ride,” co-trainer Emma-Lee Browne said.
“He’s a very strong-willed horse and he doesn’t like to take a sit.”
Bred and sold by Waikato Stud, Raetihi has now posted three wins and has amassed a further nine top three finishes from his 17 appearances.
He was purchased by Sparta Racing for $155,000 at New Zealand Bloodstock’s Ready to Run Sale, where he was sold on behalf of the Matamata nursery by Ohukia Lodge.
Raetihi is from one of the farm’s most potent families with his dam Lego, a daughter of the two-time Group 1 winner Legs with Tiptronic, Guyno and Sixty Seconds, also elite level winners in the family.
Lego has an unraced juvenile son of Super Seth, a $50,000 Karaka graduate named Super Legacy and a yearling filly by Savabeel.
