Relocation works a treat
A change of environment has brought about a desired result with Harold The Great.
The Chris Waller-trained son of Savabeel made a winning debut in Queensland on Saturday afternoon when he was successful over 2200 metres at Ipswich under rider Damien Thornton.
The Waikato Stud graduate settled at the tail end of the small field before he improved wide 500 metres from home and held a sustained finish to win for the second time in his career.
The four-year-old had previously divided his time between Waller’s Sydney and Melbourne bases and had broken his maiden at Geelong earlier this year.
Harold The Great was bought out of Waikato Stud’s draft at Karaka in 2021 for $320,000 by Waller and Mulcaster Bloodstock.
He is a son of the Pins mare Snowdrop, who was successful on six occasions and a multiple stakes placegetter, and she is a daughter of the farm’s three-time Group 1 winner Daffodil.
It is also the potent family of the elite level winners Atishu, Aegon and Good Faith.
