Savabeel 3YO on the mark
Well-related three-year-old Wymark deservedly opened his winning account on Saturday afternoon at Newcastle where he was untroubled to score over 1600 metres.
The son of Savabeel hadn’t finished further back than fourth in all six of his previous starts for Michael Freedman, including a luckless second on the track earlier this month.
Wymark broke well from the barrier for apprentice rider Zac Wadick to sit on the leader’s quarters before taking control 250 metres from home and forged clear to win with authority.
He was offered on behalf of breeder Waikato Stud by Sledmere Stud at the Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale where he was sold for A$200,000 with Mick Wallace signing the ticket.
Wymark is a son of the unraced O’Reilly mare Pasadena, who is a sister to the former champion three-year-old, multiple Group 1 winner and sire Alamosa.
Their dam is the Centaine mare Lodore Mystic and she is a sister to the G2 City of Sails winner Perfect World and to the dam of the G1 Diamond Stakes winner Dal Cielo with the G1 Schweppes Oaks heroine Lights Of Heaven also on the pedigree page.
Pasadena’s Savabeel filly sold to Te Akau’s David Ellis at Karaka last month and the mare is currently
in foal to Noverre.
