Tivaci 3YO runs rivals ragged

The only surprise about Jonny Da Wolf’s runaway victory at Ipswich was that he hadn’t broken his maiden sooner.

The Chris Waller-prepared Tivaci three-year-old had placed in four of his previous five appearances and he put it all together this afternoon under a positive ride from James Orman.

Jonny Da Wolf broke well to work to the front and he was travelling sweetly at the top of the straight.

Under a minimum of urging, the gelding lengthened stride to have a widening 6.3l on his closest rival at the end of 1350 metres to win at cramped odds.

He was offered on behalf of breeder Waikato Stud by Ohukia Lodge at New Zealand Bloodstock’s Ready to Run Sale where Lindsay Gough Racing had the final say at $120,000.

Jonny Da Wolf is a son of the Savabeel mare Fancy Dress, who was a capable mare and a four-time winner and her Super Seth colt filly sold to Anthony Freedman Racing, Julian Blaxland Bloodstock and Roll The Dice Racing at Karaka last year for $100,000.

In foal to Ocean Park, Fancy Dress is a half-sister to the G2 Cal Isuzu Stakes winner Sports Illustrated and a pedigree page highlighted by Australasian and European Group 1 winner and sire Starcraft.
